Neu Nomads was founded by Karen Wood in 2018. After seeing the negative impact that the fashion industry has on the environment while working at brands including Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Maiyet, and Fleur du Mal, Karen realized that plant-based fibers have the potential to be the future of fashion. Each design is uniquely crafted using linen or modal: a light and soft, yet sturdy material that is completely renewable. The brand fuses comfort and sustainability to create pieces that are breathable and effortlessly chic.
Neu Nomads' mission is to reduce the extreme impact that the textile industry has on the environment. The modal fabric used in each design is an all-natural, biodegradable fiber derived from wood pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests. Neu Nomads works directly with a non-toxic dye facility in Rajasthan, India to ensure that each piece is AZO and toxic dye free. The facility is recognized by the European Commission and Swiss government for its unique approach to eco-friendly fabric dying; it runs on solar power and retreats and reuses 90% of its water supply. Neu Nomads owns their own manufacturing facility in India, where each piece is handcrafted by local artisans, enabling working conditions to be closely monitored.
"Our mission is to build a next generation fashion company starting with a reimagined supply chain based on principles of sustainability, traceability and design thinking." - Karen Woods, Founder
Neu Nomads’ approach to sustainability goes beyond just fabric. The brand ensures an ethical supply chain from start to finish, focusing on fair treatment of workers, proper working conditions, and 100% plastic-free recycled packaging.
