Taylor + Thomas

Taylor + Thomas is a female-owned footwear company started by Jessica Taylor Mead and Elizabeth Thomas James.  Connected by a shared love for global consciousness and personal styling, the duo set out to create a brand that reinvents vegan and cruelty-free luxury footwear. 

Each Taylor + Thomas silhouette is handcrafted in Los Angeles by master artisans using materials sourced from both Italy and the USA. These innovative materials challenge the traditional approach to vegan footwear, which is primarily plastic-based.

The heels for each pair of Taylor + Thomas shoes are made from responsibly-harvested, FSC-certified beech wood and are finished with 100% recyclable rubber outsoles.  25% of the petrolatum that is traditionally used in the insoles has been replaced with a bio-oil substitute made from castor bean and 5% recycled rubber. The uppers of each pair incorporate a new solvent- and chemical-free water-based polyurethane - that feels like lambskin - and are lined with 50% Bio Polys: a renewable plant byproduct made from corn.  Each pair is finished with the brand's solid brass hardware that is handmade in downtown Los Angeles by a local jeweler.

To complement the brand’s focus on sustainable materials, all packaging is also made from recycled, upcycled and recyclable materials.  In addition, Mead & James have dedicated 1% of all sales to charity, beginning with 1% For The Planet, and have partnered with NativeEnergy to offset the company’s carbon footprint.
