To avoid moisture from entering the shakers, keep them away from liquids at all times. Handle tagua seed jewelry with white cotton gloves. If these are not available, wash your hands first with soap and water to remove oils and dirt. It is best to store tagua seed jewelry similar to storing materials like ivory, opals, emeralds and pearls in a controlled environment with low-light and relative humidity. Conditions should be kept constant and we recommend avoiding extreme conditions or rapid fluctuations. We recommend storing in a tightly closed display case or storage drawer to limit sudden changes in temperature and relative humidity, as well as dust and dirt. If stored properly, tagua seed jewelry will not require a lot of cleaning or maintenance. To enhance natural shine and luster, we suggest buffing the tagua seed with beeswax about once per year. Avoid water when cleaning or wearing tagua seed jewelry. With time, like ivory, tagua seed can turn into a yellowish creamy tone.
